Aman Tea Distributors, West Bengal, was founded under the leadership of Rajeev Baid, who made a humble beginning as a tea vendor at a railways station. The Iconic industrialist’s vision became a reality when he set up the Evergreen Tea Group.
The group has a retail boutique called Chaichun which produces 15 million kilograms of tea annually. The company’s other ventures include Chai Rasa café’s, Tea on Wheels and Chai Veda that are aimed to offer a holistic experience to tea lovers.
Chaichun recently acquired the 150-year-old tea estate known as the Okayti, that was patronized by well known figures like Jawaharlal Nehru and Queen Elizabeth. Okayti produces 100 percent bio-organic tea known for its rich Darjeeling flavour, also called the ‘Champagne of Teas’.
Okayti counts Harrods, TWG, TEE, Fortnum & Mason among its global buyers. It exports to 20 countries worldwide. It is a scenic estate with the highest elevation of 4,000 to 6,200 feet. It is also the oldest tea factory in the world producing 160,000 kilos of fine organic tea annually.
Evergreen Tea Group headquartered in Siliguri, deals in production, wholesale, distribution, and white labelling. The company has in its fold 7 CTC production units. Its is the key supplier to Indian brands like TATA, HUL and Tea Champagne. The brand produces more than 165 varieties of tea both in loose tea and packet categories.
