About Verma Overseas
Verma Overseas was founded in 2006 by young artist Narendra Kumar Verma who is also a Secretary of Shree Bala Ji Self help Group.
Narendra is a 5th generation artisan and has won numerous national and international awards.
Shree Bala ji Self Help Group are manufacturers of a wide range of stone handicraft products, made by skilled craftsmen.
Currently, 108 artisan families are engaged in Shree Balaji Self Help Group.
Verma Overseas is responsible for their marketing. The company provides resources, welfare, education, and ensures health and safety of their staff.
In association with the office of Development Commissioner for Handicrafts, and the Craft Council of India, they provide product improvement training as well.
The company specializes in marble and stone handicrafts & artefacts as well as in combination with wood and metal.
They have exported to the US, Australia, UK and Hong Kong. A portion of production is also supplied locally to retail outlets such as FabIndia, Central Cottage Industries Emporium and Craft Council of India.
They have participated in various exhibitions, including:
- The Mayor’s Thames Festival ’07 London
- Pravasi Bhartiya Divas 2008, Chennai
- Indian Festival in Abu Dhabi 2011 organized by Indian embassy in UAE
- International Craft Exhibition in Muscat (Oman) 2018
- Craft Fair in Bangkok (Thailand) 2018 & many craft bazars
Founder Narendra has been awarded with the Seal of Excellence for Handicrafts award by Unesco in 2006, 2008 & 2012.
He has also completed a stone carving training source at City & Guilds of London Art School.
